HORRIBLE CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE!!! It was necessary to change my original review - I originally thought the service from the location was excellent, yet after a severe rodent infestation in my rented unit, due to an adjacent unit (according to the staff) that had food and other items that drew the RATS!! I was most recently horribly disrespected by Tanya the store manager, who can go from angel to devil in a heart beat!! The Dist Manager David promised me free rent and a unit of the same size to salvage items, not destroyed by the RATS. However, having paid on time for the past 4 years, I recently discovered that someone from the store at the instructions of David (DM) cut my lock!! I discovered items missing and my unit was in a shamble - My heavy Armoire was moved to block a once open path and behind it were chairs and boxes just thrown around and crates leaning onto - Items were that once occupied my Armoire were missing and that which remained was BROKEN!! The most disgusting part is that David does not find this Breach of Contract out of line and Tanya has now a passive aggressive approach - both are distressing, egregiously disappointing, unethical and mentally disturbing... I made a police report and WARN OTHERS - RENTERS BEWARE!!

Update: She called me back in the evening. I asked her why she couldn’t have just told me the code I was using for months was temporary while I spoke to her earlier. She said she couldn’t remember the number as I was saying it over the phone but when I drove up there and showed her the pamphlet with it she remembered. She finally called the other person to confirm but I told her I already had the correct code. I told her I didn’t feel she was empathetic towards me on the initial call and I didn’t feel like I was valued. She said she was doing everything herself. Please hire more help so the frustration employees have don’t spill over to customers especially those dealing with sensitive issues that I expressed to her over the phone. I forgive her, more coaching can be done though as she was talking over me when she called me back. Again I’m guessing you can also attribute some of that to lack of help. Poor customer service. I called to let them know my gate code wasn’t working. I spoke to someone named Lisa or Tonya I believe. She asked for my code over the phone and I gave it to her then she kept saying that’s not the code, that’s not the code. I told her that was the code I was using for months. She was very dry and not at all looking to help me resolve the issue. I even asked her to call someone else to confirm. She told me to call back at 2 p.m. I called back then and she said she didn’t call the person yet mind you I initially finished the first call with her around 12:30 p.m. She said she was “busy.” Fortunately thanks to Yah, I was able to find the correct code but she caused an extreme amount of worry, confusion, and frustration. So I go up there and show her the pamphlet from them which had the code I’d been using for months then she proceeds to say “oh that was a temporary code we had until the gate was fixed. We let people know.” No you didn’t let people know because when I called you, you clearly didn’t let me know. And I was using that code to get into the gate. Completely ludicrous. Whoever manages her please provide constructive feedback and management to her on knowing how to effectively communicate with customers. She seemed like she was in la-la land. Just a horrible overall experience!!!

I got storage yesterday at CubeSmart on 83rd and South Chicago. I met with site manager, Tanya, which was so knowledgeable I had no questions after she was done with the tour. I like that. I was truly impressed. Throughout the entire walkthrough it was so very very clean, it even smell good. During The Fall season leaves blow everywhere. Although it's the beginning of winter our leaves are still here in Chicago. As my brother and I drove into the lot there was not one leaf anywhere. I rode past this place quite a few times so it's not new but it looks like it's brand new freshly built it was so clean. I really think I'm going to truly enjoy using this storage unit at CubeSmart.

The facility is always clean of debris whenever I arrived. The associate Tanya is pleasant and respectful, greeting me upon my arrival. She goes out of her way to answer any questions I have. I spend a great deal of time at the facility and it’s nice to know that someone is keeping an extra eye out. She will periodically come by to check in to see if I need anything or that I am okay. Safety is an important concern for me during these times and I feel safe and secure having her around. It’s great to see someone who takes pride in doing their job. Here’s four stars and two thumbs up for Tanya!!!!

I hate that my rates go up and service amenities are limited due to people stealing and vandalizing the place. To use their cart, I need to visit when the office is open. It's a long walk to th office and they are never open when I am able to go so I never have the option for a cart from them. I can't wait until I can close this unit for good. I am tired of paying for carts that I can't use. Oh and the office now closed on Sundays. Go figure!

The facilities were always clean and well lit. Entry and exit was streamlined via passcode. The problem that I have is the annual increase on the storage costs. This was the sole motivator on me eliminating my storage unit after 2 years. If the ultimate goal is short term storage than this is a great strategy. If they want long term customers then this may need to be reconsidered. Instead of raising prices on existing customers, lock their price in and increase the price each year on new customers.

This Penske location is great. I rented a truck from this location and the process was super easy and I had no problems. But I did notice I was over charged for my mileage so I went back in to inquire and Tiffany Harris the general manager called corporate right away and made sure I was reimbursed. This location offers really good customer service. The staff are pleasant, respectful, and professional even when your bill is late. However, the company as a whole....CORPORATE FOCUSED! Cubesmart as a corporation is definitely more focused on their bottom line than their customer. Example: If you are ever 5 days or more late pre-paying your bill Cubesmart will charge a 20% fee on top of your balance. Now, if you move out 5 days early, they will not prorate you for the unused time. You will not get a single dollar back. They will re-rent that unit to a new patron, ultimately creating double profit for themselves. Cubesmart customer's who choose to move out sooner than the days they're forced to prepay for are essentially donating to a publicly traded corporation. Go elsewhere! The stars are for the women who run the location on South Chicago. The lack of stars represent the people who run the corporation.

I have been a customer at this location 2014 and have pretty much been satisfied. The facility is kept clean and I am comfortable that my belongings are secured. Recently I had a situation where it required me to interact with the Manager Tiffany Harris. Ms Harris was very courteous and professional and was well versed in alternative "Cubesmart"solutions available for me as a customer. Unfortunately one of the alternatives did not work out for me after I chose to engage, it became apparent it wasn't a fit. Ms Harris worked to help find an agreeable resolution for me and to also keep me in mind if and when something more suitable arose. I have also had a good experience with the other manager there (Shada) she is very patient and professional and has helped me tremendously in the past when I have run across issues or had questions. She is wonderful with following up with you when she says she will . I have spoken to and them both on more than one occasion. Overall both ladies are Customer Service Superstars !!

Secure, clean, quiet and very reasonably priced - this place was perfect. Tiffany is highly professional and wonderfully helpful from moving in through closing out. I stored some stuff here for a couple of months after moving and never had any issues with access, billing, or facility conditions. Month-to-month was just what I needed and closing out was totally painless, no fine print fees or anything. You'll have like 4 layers of security, gated parking with lots of space, and again, Tiffany is just fantastic. I'm always worried about signing any sort of contract, but I had no problems and this just made things so much easier while looking for an apartment.

I made a Penske reservation online for a 16 feet truck. I went there one day before just to make sure that there would not be any issues and was told that everything was fine. When I got there, I was able to access the gated parking lot without anybody stopping me. When I realized that I was at the opposite end of the building, I proceeded to the office to finalize the rental of the truck. I spoke with a rude employee by the name of Tory Thompson who wanted to nag me for parking in the gated parking lot without their authorization. Then, I was informed that the reserved truck was not at this location. After a couple of phone calls, I was told that I needed to drive to another location in order to pick up a similar truck. I wasted close to 2 hours just to rent a truck. I do not know if this is a direct result of Cubesmart, Penske, or the employee. However, it was a horrible first time experience.

Extremely secure facility but inconveniently accessible. The facility is NOT 24 hours. Closes at 8pm. There are a total of 3 layers of password protection to get to your storage room. The entrance gate. The building. The elevator. All 3 need a pin to get to the other. Its overkill. Keeps stuff safe but makes it hellish getting to it.

I recently rented a storage unit form CubeSmart. I asked to see the unit because I never rented a unit before. I was shown a 10x10 unit downstairs & was told it was ~ $147.00 & 1/2 for the 1st month. Then I was informed if I reserved the unit online I would get an additional 10% off. So of course I went home & reserved the unit online. When I checked on line there was a unit on the upper level for $112.00 so I reserved that instead. When I got back to the store a couple of days later to set everything up I was informed by the RUDE General Manager that the upper level units do not get the 1/2 off the 1st month. I informed her that wasn't told to me when I was in the store to reserve the unit. She then took her cell phone out (totally unprofessional) & called the salesperson (Kay) who initially helped me to ask her what happened. After she finish talking to her she comes back to me with the same response, "no you don't get 1/2 for the upper level units for 1st month." I then stated that it should have been explained to me when I was in the store, & how is that the customer fault if it wasn't. She then went on to say, "I can give you an lower level unit for $147.00 a month & give you the 1st month 1/2 off." What?? That doesn't make sense, in the long run I would be paying more. I feel as a customer she should have honored what was initially told to me by her salesperson. If I wasn't moving my mom's items that day I would not have used this facility. I will not recommend them to anyone given their POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE.

This is the first time that I would need a public storage space and was hesitant about putting my personal things in a public storage space. So, I decided to go online to find a facility that I would feel comfortable storing my belongings. Immediately, I came across CubeSmart which was conveniently located, offered great rates and promotions. I reserved a space online and later received a call from the store manager. The facility is very clean and I love how secure the building is. Another bonus is everything is indoors so weather issues will not be a concern of mine. The customer service here is Top Notch! The Manager Angela Clay and Torri were awesome! They have made my storage move experience great! They were very informative and knowledgeable on the service that was provided to me on the facilities! I like that I was giving options and wasn't rush on my decision!
